What is a stadium? When did it appear and how did it transform through the time? How does a stadium’s purpose affect its appearance? You can find answers to these questions on a tour of the exhibition “Architecture of Stadiums” during which you will not only view the history of the development of sports arenas in antiquity, but also the history of the legendary soviet stadiums such as Moscow’s “Dinamo”, the ensemble in Luzhniki, Leningrad’s “Kirov Stadium”, sports arenas in Minsk, Yerevan, Kiev and even the contemporary arenas where the championship of this year’s World Cup would be held.
Guided tours of the exhibition “Architecture of Stadiums” in English are available on Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 until 17:00.

«MODEL OF THE GRAND KREMLIN PALACE»
A guided tour for an exhibition of the model of the Grand Kremlin Palace created in the 70’s of XVIII century by the great Russian architect Vasily Bazhenov. During the tour you would learn what place did the Grand Kremlin Palace traditionally take in the Moscow Kremlin, why did the young architect Vasily Bazhenov graduate from the newly found Academy of Arts in three years when it usually took over 15 years to finish education and what role did the founder of MSU Shuvalov play in his life? The tour participants will be told where did the young architect bring the art of making models out of wood and cork from and why did he suggest to tear down all the existing structures in Kremlin to build the Grand Kremlin Palace, as well as why did Catherine the Great cancel the completion of the colossal structure after the Kremlin Wall was already taken apart and the foundation of the new building was laid. The unique monument of Classicism and the biggest architectural model in the world will be demonstrated, creation of which was due to ambitious plans of Catherine the Great to build the greatest palace which would show the glory and power of the Russian monarchy on the ruins of the Kremlin Wall.
